Gaybies by Dean Bryant
Based on interviews conducted with the children of gay parents, Dean Bryant’s upbeat verbatim exercise draws on the experiences of a diverse group of people, ranging in age from four to 40.
Bryant wrote Gaybies to inspire and inform the public on what it is like to grow up in families that were once considered hypothetical but are now controversial. It answers the question typically posed of such families: “But what about the children?”
A heart-warming story in what is the 40th anniversary of the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras.

These are the true stories of innocent victims of ignorance and intolerance. And it’s a wordy piece indeed, but there’s enough light and shade and laugh out loud moments to break the tension. Rose Cooper for Stage Whispers
